Essay Sample Taking a stand

Essay Sample Taking a stand What is worse beating or bullying with the words? A lot of the children suffer a lot from the both things. Most of the people can state that beating is a more serious thing than bullies attacks with words. However, the reason why they think so is because it is quite easy to notice such situations, and do everything possible to help. Even if the beaten person suffers not only outside, but also inside, it is possible to provide him/her with the necessary help. Unfortunately, the situation with the words attacks is also very problematic, because it can be very complicated to understand that there are any issues among children. It is impossible to find bruises and broken bones after bullying with the words. Yet, every person who experienced this, know how it hurts. Verbal bullies can lead to very serious consequents that can ruin the life of the victim. It doesn’t matter what age children are. They can start bullying someone for a reason that seems reasonable for them at that period of time. If it happens only a couple of time, it, probably, won’t have any dramatic consequences. However, if it continues, the life of the victim will be horrible. It is even possible that the aggressors will regret in the future, but it will be very complicated to change anything. The worst thing in such situations that almost never there is someone, who can help. In my high school years, I saw what bullying is with my own eyes. I wasn’t a victim, and I wasn’t an aggressor. Yet, I was a person, who was watching how other teens teased Emily, my classmate, and I did nothing. The reason why she was teased is that she was quite fat and had a funny haircut. At first, the jokes about here were not very offensive, and it was even funny sometimes to hear them. Yet, every next time was worse and worse. I had noticed a few times, how Emily cried after such word attacks. The problem is that any teacher didn’t notice or didn’t want to notice that this problem exists. A few times, I wanted to protect her, but I also was quite afraid that I will become the next victim. After all, I decided to inform the teacher about the situation with Emily. Fortunately, he listens to my words and decided to talk to her and to her parents. When the truth was disclosed, everyone was shocked because Emily suffered from the depression and even had suicidal thoughts. I’m afraid to think of what could happen. Yet, even after all this, not all of the people understood the seriousness of the situation. Not all of the aggressors felt guilty about their behavior. Some of the teens even thought that Emily was the one who was guilty of the bullying. Unfortunately, such situations aren’t something rare in schools and even colleges. It is very good when there is someone to stand for a victim, but very often people are aloof. Verbal bullying is something that ruins the person from the inside, especially if it is just a child or teenager, who doesn’t know how to protect him/herself or whom to ask for help. It is essential for teachers to be more attentive and help such people. Apart from this, children or teens, who see such situations, also should be brave and do something when it is not too late. It is not necessary to protect a victim by yourself, if you are afraid of becoming a victim too, but is crucial to do at least something, like telling the teacher or parents about the problem. It is always possible to find a decision if just to try enough to do this.

William Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet - 2208 Words

With each new rendition of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, a new generation is given that opportunity to connect with one of the greatest tragedies of all time. Although each adaptation had its own unique play on the play, they also provide the occasional twist that make the centuries old story never seem old. From the opening fight scene to the infamous balcony scene even to the final death scene, every adaption provides a different versions of the scenes while still managing to produce the same reaction that Shakespeare had intended. As we analysis the death scene of the 1996 Romeo + Juliet film and the more recent 2013 Romeo Juliet movie, I am sure it will become clear how Shakespeare’s intent survived in these two completely different, modern adaptations of his work. In the 1996 rendition of the film here we find romeo after just having escaped the guns of the police to retreat into the sanctuary of a church. On his knees having just sealed himself inside he turns and we see a shadow cast upon his face, a warm light the only thing directing him where to go. From the start we can see how this scene is different from the one first written by Shakespeare. In Shakespeare’s version only Balthasar is with Romeo when he go to see Juliet. As her ventures deeper into the church, opening their doors we see the room flooded with candles lining the walkway. Stopping only briefly to take in the sight before him. Vodoo as a Religion Essay - 619 Words

Voodoo as a religion There are two different types of voodoo; the religion and the evil version that Hollywood made up. Voodoo has many traditions, and is a lot like Christianity. Both believe in a higher being. The Loa is similar to Christian saints, in which they were once human beings who lived outstanding lives, and are often blessed with a responsibility or honored. Both have ceremony’s similar to communion, and believe in evil spirits or demons. â€Å"Followers of Voodoo believe that each person has a soul which is composed of two parts: a gros bon ange or big guardian angel, and a ti bon ange or little guardian angel. Many voodoo priests’ and priestesses’ were killed because voodoo was thought to be evil to the Roman Catholics. Voodoo is very much alive today , in fact it is now Haiti’s national religion. Voodoo originated from parts of Africa, but was spread to Haiti and America during slave trade.(Voodoo) I believe that this religion survived because slaves tended to hang on to their religion and beliefs because what they believed was the only thing that they owned and could control. Voodoo has had a major impact in Haiti; so much so that they have declared voodoo as there national religion.(origins of Voodoo) It also has had a major impact on New Orleans, Louisiana. A lot of New Orleans’s art and culture is based on Voodoo and it’s traditions. A lot of bad stuff has been said about Voodoo; however, when the religion itself is researched and separated from the myths and superstitions its not much different from the religions that are considered normal. Skyrim Review Free Essays

Scrim Review Arthur Underworld Diver university So you’re sitting at home bored for hours on end, and you want something to Just take your mind away from reality and into another world where you can do whatever you as you wish. Well it sounds like you want to play a video game. Actually, it sounds like you want to play Elder Scrolls V: Scrim. We will write a custom essay sample on Skyrim Review or any similar topic only for you Order Now This is a review of the popular cross platform video game commonly referred to as Scrim. I give this game a 9. 75 out of 10 for its amazing graphics, fantastic attention to detail, smooth gamely. Underfed harasser development, and of course, fun story line. The game starts with the main character on the verge of getting executed when he is saved by none other then a giant fire-breathing dragon. You hear from other players that dragons are extinct in this world for centuries. Obviously not. You must decide quickly whether you will escape the burning town with the imperial guard, or with the leader of the rebellion who has recently murdered the king and claims that government is oppressing the natural born peoples to Scrim. This decision is not an important one, but introduces oh to the tact throughout the game you will given choices. Some of which are not simple. Simple this or that choices are prominent, but some are as complicated as do nothing and your reputation will be hindered. You soon find out that you are the dragoon. You have the power of Theme, or voice. You can yell and basically effect the world around you by either doing damage or even become Invisible. The storyline Is complicated and involves twists and plots and quite a lot of dragon killing, and inevitably, dragons killing you. Probably the most annoying part of the game. Eating stuck in a dragon fight that can take some time to finish if your not inept in magic, and all the sudden here comes another dragon, and on a rare occasion, a third or fourth dragon. Leaving you with little ability to defend yourself against an onslaught of dragons that will most likely leave you burnt too crisp on the side of some road, The Elder Scroll series is famous for their use of the guilds. The Dark Brotherhood, an assassins’ guild, the Thieves’ Guild, the Fighters’ Guild, and the Mages guild are all, as expected, playable in this game. I played through all the guilds this time and am glad to report that there is nothing that leaves you wanting more afterward. Being able to sneak around and play a thief or an assassin, making money and getting rewards beyond compare from regular side quests. Becoming the leader of the Mages guild was particularly rewarding, with a room full of loot and Ingredients that always regret, allowing you to restock on potion Items from hard to find Ingredients in the same room. Character development is particularly exciting In this game. Previous role playing Ames allow stats Increases by overall experience and level ups. In Scrim you level up certain buffs such a health regeneration and a big enough armor rating you can actually level up things like armor by attacking a guard and sitting there and letting the guards attack you. In about an hour your armor rating will be at 99, and you sat back and read your homework the whole time. However with skills like conjuration and lock pick, it’s a little harder to level up. Unless you start lock picking, or conjuring monsters early in the game you’ll find yourself with a pathetically low level near the ND of the game and needing to make up so many skill levels to level up you main level. This will be very time consuming, especially with the skills I mentioned. The first thing you’ll notice about the game, however, is its graphics. Scrim has no cut scenes such as this. All the graphics are designed on the same engine that runs game play. The good and the bad for this you ask? Well loading time can get annoying, but if you download the game to your console then load times are reduced by about half. Rendering graphics can also get glitch. Sometimes an object will appear and twitch back and forth stuck on an invisible wall or level. This rarely effects gamely however, so is easily overlooked. Aside from the graphics, the attention to detail in every level of the game is without compare. This is an open world game, which meaner you can travel to any section of the world at any time for any reason. The countryside is full of mountains covered in snow. The valleys are full flowers and plants, all of which are able to be harvested for ingredients to sell/trade or brew potions. Every item you see can be kicked up and sold or used. In the inventory menu you can look at every item specifically, turning it around and zooming in and out as you wish. Overall, the only problems I found with the game was with some glitches, which can be expected in any game of this magnitude. Those glitches are the only reason I didn’t give this game a 10/10. This game has a storyline that draws in the player, allowing for expandable play through guilds. It has the best and most pleasing graphics yet to date, and a record making attention to detail. It’s by far the best RPG Vive played. How to cite Skyrim Review, Papers

Prometheus Essays - Prometheus, Titans, Greek Mythology, Hera, Io

Prometheus Though long engraved into history, the ancient world of Greece still remains present throughout the cradle of humanity in several ways. Its rich contributions in literature, drama and art have shaped even modern civilizations. Through the characters in the Greek myths, morals and standards that remain to dominate society are presented to us. These figures in mythology appeared as gods, goddesses, heroes, and even mortals, who teach not just through their triumphs but also through their less honorable moments. One of the most noble of these characters, was Prometheus. Prometheus was a Titan (or elder god) who could often see into the future. He first enters mythological tales when he aided Zeus in the struggle to claim the throne of King of the Gods. Several later stories portray Prometheus character as intelligent, philanthropic, and non compliant when faced with injustices. The great hero Hercules was brave and strong, but there was something he lacked. It is carefully noted along with his story that he was weak in the area of intelligence, his major disadvantage. This is a quality Prometheus possessed. Prometheus is labeled throughout mythology as being very wise. In some stories he is called the wisest in the universe. This is a feature not many other figures in mythology possessed. It was due to his wisdom that his family survived the great flood and humans received many of their advantages. Prometheus is depicted as helping humans throughout Greek mythology. In one story, he consoles Io, a young girl punished due to Heras jealousy, during her time of pain and confusion. In this story he directs her to a more promising future. There is also strong emphasis on his assisting the human race as a whole. It was Prometheus who made mankind the superior race. He gave man both the superior protection, fire, and superior form, upright like the gods. Zeus was angered when Prometheus gave man so many advantages, and also because he would not reveal whom the future told would dethrone him. Forgetting the debt he owed Prometheus for all he had helped him with in the past, he decided to torture Prometheus until he revealed the information he knew. Prometheus was bound to the rocky peak on Caucasus, wrapped in unbreakable chains, unable to sleep or relax. Everyday an eagle came down and tore at his flesh. Prometheus knew he had served Zeus well and was right in his assistance to man. He refused to yield to Zeus, and endured the pain. His body was bound but his spirit was free. He now remains a symbol of rebellion against injustice to many. In summary, along with its culture and values, ancient Greece has left us more. It has left us great figures to look up to and admire. It has left us characters such as Prometheus to pave a road of morals and standards for the present as well as future. His qualities of wisdom, altruism, and strong will have been revealed through both his stories of triumphs and pain, stories that never die. These stories will be told for generations to come. presidential campaigns essays

presidential campaigns essays Then presidential elections of the years past have had a major impact on the world existing today. In my report I researched the election of 1860. Abraham Lincoln's victory in this election enabled Black People to be free in our society today. There were four major candidates in this election. The choice for the Republican Party was Abraham Lincoln. He was an excellent speaker who gained recognition during the Lincoln- Douglas debates. In his first major political appearance he won the support of many Americans through his powerful and famous speech at "Cooper Union" in New York City. In his speech, Lincoln deplored slavery and condemned violence. Lincoln won the nomination for his party because he was the only one acceptable to all of the different factions that existed in the Republican Party. There also was a division within the Democratic Party. The popular choice for the Northern Democrats was Stephen Douglas. He was a spokesman for policy of National Expansion. His views supported family farming and free labor, which was a very significant issue at the time. The Southern Delegates nominated John Breckinridge of Kentucky who was also the Vice President of the United States. He advocated plantation economy and also supported slavery. Breckinridge caused the Southern Democratic delegates to form a Constitutional Union party because they did not agree with his politics. Therefore, they nominated a fourth candidate whose only cause was to preserve the union and attempted to rally the former Whigs. His name was John Bell of Tennessee. Bell wished to preserve the constitution (thus the constitutional union party). Many different tactics were used by the candidates to gain votes. From time to time in United States history, presidential nominees of the major parties engage in debates. Some of the most famous debates in American political history, were those between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas in 1858. At times, specif...

Extending the Game Leadership Geeks, a website focusing on leadership skills and team building, suggests extending this seemingly simple game to foster team-building, work habits, and social skills. After all of the  participants have torn off a few pieces of toilet paper and you have explained the rules of the game, notes the website: You may hear laughter and groaning when some realize they took too many squares.End the session by sharing a humorous moral: â€Å"Sometimes excess can be bad for you!†Ask participants: How many of you took more than what you knew you would need just in case? What does that say about your approach to life in general? What are some interesting things you have learned about your fellow participants? You can dissolve uncomfortable distinctions between those hoarding a large number of pieces and those who only grabbed two or three. Afterward, have everyone throw their sheets into the center, says Beat by Beat. This represents all the new information we now know about each other. Its amazing how much social traction you can gain with a simple bathroom supply. And, regardless of how many sheets participants tore off, youre likely to have plenty of paper left on the roll for your next event.

Balance in the Administration of Justice Security Paper Essay

Balance in the Administration of Justice Security Paper - Essay Example This usually holds true too in other nations. They have their own ways of educating and updating their citizens of the current plans and implements. This is for the purpose of ensuring that the government is functioning for the service of the people, to uphold their rights and secure their territories. There are certain sectors that are very particular with the repercussions in the legal system of the goals aimed for. In the piece, Communications Privacy in the Digital Age (1997), a number of legal issues confronted by people in general are laid out. First of these issues is the fact of making 'Wiretapping' permissible to be used in dealing with certain crimes. Formerly, 'wiretapping' was allowed only for serious crimes that threaten the national security. Today, the list included crimes such as fraudulent statements in documents and applications as well the causing of destruction in any property owned by the State. Another point highlighted in the articles is the need to make more productive results in proposed actions. There are illegal practices that contravene the purpose of justice and security. The item also mentioned the authorizations provided by courts in proceeding with 'electronic surveillance' and the reaction to such through suggesting other methods to be used to acqu ire data. Most of the time also, the parties concerned contest the method of obtaining data quite too late and they barely survive to win in the proceedings ("Communications Privacy in the Digital Age", 1997). The court of "Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act" or FISA already demonstrated that in its seventeen years of existence, there was never an instance that it denied a request for a "government electronic surveillance." In 1996 alone, there were about 839 orders given out and the statistics increases by twenty percent every year since then ("Communications Privacy in the Digital Age", 1997). Basically, what this piece emphasizes are the various implications to the legal and governmental system of the rules and procedures implemented just to respond to the needs of justice and security. This has been the cause of alarm for many people because the developments and advancements in technology can be abused and taken advantage of by those who have access to such. Changes in Technology and Mass Communication due to Justice and Security Reasons At this point, it is worthy to note that the piece, Communications Privacy in the Digital Age (1997), do indicate some key points of the improvement. These areas of development include 'Communications Methods,' 'Expansion,' 'Location Information and Monitoring,' 'Modifications in Wireless Service,' 'Internet Advancements,' and 'Computer Analysis.' These shall be discussed in detail below. However, at this point, the one concept discussed in the article to keep in mind is the so-called 'double-edged sword.' At one side, there is the governmental mechanism that takes opportune of the endless possibilities offered by technology. On the other side, the public fears such possibilities because of the tendency for the power to corrupt and for authority to abuse. Thus, it is imperative to be aware and cautious of the various marks of development adopted and implemented ("Communications

Luc Besson: One of the Best French Directors :: Movie Film Movies Films

Luc Besson: One of the Best French Directors Thesis: Luc Besson is one of the best French Directors of this century. His works can either be viewed as mere action packed thrillers or the viewer can go in depth and question society and morality. Besson wishes to make the viewer question the importance of individualism, the role of each individual in society and whether the individual should follow the norms of society or follow his heart. Besson’s humor, sense of pathos and his reflections on life deserve credit. Besson draws on his own life in some movies. Besson lacks presence of family and religion and in his movies the protagonist has to sacrifice one love so as to attain another, which he feels to be of greater importance to his life. Introduction Luc Besson was born in Paris on March 18, 1959, and spent most of his childhood living in the idyllic settings of various Mediterranean hideaways between Yugoslavia and Greece where his parents worked as diving instructors. A tragic diving accident when seventeen, put an end to his dreams of a career in marine biology and he diverted his interest to films and directing. He dropped out of school and moved to Hollywood at the age of nineteen where he spent three years working on and learning about American films. There was a time when he used to watch a dozen films a week so as to understand filmmaking. Considered the French equivalent of Steven Spielberg, Besson is popular for creating fast–paced stylish and hugely budgeted films. What are noticeable in Besson’s movies are the visual style, humor, pathos, and sense of direction, reflections on life and declination of modern society. (Susan Hayward, 1998) The Movies Luc Besson’s movies can all be viewed not just as movies but movies with a meaning. One of his major themes in all his movies is social existentialism - the decline of society and morality. The protagonist develops his own sense of morality and what is right and wrong in relation to their decline in society as a whole. What are noticeable in his movies are the absence of family and the demise of the community, which he brings out with great sophistication. His childhood spent near the sea and his passion for it and diving also had a profound effect even on his work as can be seen from his movie – The Big Blue.

Appropriate Software and Hardware Essay

The package that I will be using will be Microsoft PowerPoint. This is the only software that will be needed, other than MS Windows in which it runs. PowerPoint is the leading presentation graphics program and comes wit MS Office, which Alex Ferguson already owns. A graphics program will also be used to manipulate the pictures image once they have been scanned in or copied from the Internet. The hardware required would be a scanner with which to scan in some of the photographs that have been taken of the team, and a digital camera, which I can borrow to take some pictures of the stadium. These can be imported into PowerPoint directly from the camera using the Insert, Picture, From Scanner or Camera command on the menu. A scanner will also be required to scan in pictures of the team, managers and stadium so fans can identify players/managers by picture and not just by name. A good monitor will be required since this information system will be running shop hours. With this in mind it will also be necessary to use a screen-saver built in to MS Windows in order to preserve the screen. A custom screensaver could be added at a later date. Lastly, a good mouse will be required for fans to navigate the system by clicking on the buttons. Data Required The manager of the team will be able to supply me with information on his team. More details about the team can be found on the Manchester United Official Website. There are also a lot of books and magazines on the team and its history. Pictures will also need to be either scanned in or copied from the Internet. A chart showing the information that I will need and where it will come from is shown on the next page: Data Manipulation The scanned/copied from the Internet, photographs and pictures can be imported into a Paint package and a text box added telling the fans what the picture/photograph is showing. Information gathered about the team will be typed in and formatted with appropriate fonts and colours. Data Flow Updating site information Alex Ferguson updates the team information whenever it changes. The new information is then stored in the application file. Dealing with customer enquires There will be a menu system with option buttons. A fan requests information from the system by clicking on a button. The system finds and displays the information for the customer. Format of information and graphics There will be around 13 slides in order to display all the information and the team history of each decade. Each slide will contain at least one picture or animation to keep the interest of the fan. The user requirements state that there should be a clear title on every slide. This should be in a larger font and in a different colour from the rest of the text. All buttons used on the slides should be kept in the same place on every slide. This will ensure that the viewer will always know where to expect the ‘Back to Start’ button to be on the page, making it easier to use. The interface should not use too many colours. A uniform look should be chosen and adhered to. Likewise, the selection of animations and transitions must be restricted so that everything does not look all jumbled together. These constraints will all add to the system looking more professional in the end.

Betrayal can be seen and done for many reasons, but often there is no real reason why someone would betray another human being. This proves to be the case in Shakespeare’s Othello, where one of Othello’s most trusted men, Iago betrayed him after being filled with rage and jealousy of not receiving the recognition he solely thought he deserved. Iago becomes both Othello’s friend and worst enemy throughout the whole play in order to destroy him and his reputation while ensuring the downfall of everyone so he can finally get what he wants. In the beginning, Iago has found out that Othello has given the title of lieutenant to Cassio. This is when the jealousy and rage fill Iago as he feels he deserved that title. All this anger that was built inside Iago made him come up with a plan to betray Othello and ruin both his and lieutenant Cassios reputation. Iago believes that just destroying Othello will not be enough to cause Othello significant pain. He intends to push Othello to his limits in order for him to commit an evil act that would be unforgivable which is what he means when he says, â€Å" A jealousy so strong that judgment cannot cure.†(II.i.295-296). Iago intends to lie to Othello and tricking him into believing that his lieutenant Cassio has been having an affair with his wife Desdemona to start a spark of jealousy in Othello which will, later on, turn Othello mad resulting in horrific acts and Iago becoming the new lieutenant. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Betrayal As A Providing Theme In Othello" essay for you Create order As the play goes on, Iago is able to manipulate both Cassio and Emilia into betraying one another so that his plan can go through with betraying Othello. For Instance, when Cassio is stripped from his title after getting into a brawl while being drunk, Iago informs him to get really close to Desdemona as she can be the one who can help him regain his title by taking his side when talking to Othello. It is Iago’s intention to use any opportunity he has to make Othello doubt his friends and wife to be able to trust Iago. For example, even though Othello knows deep down in his heart that Desdemona would not betray him, for she is the one who fell in love with him. Othello has been manipulated so much by Iago that all these thoughts soon abandon Othello’s mind. Although this is just Iagos plan to ruin and destroy Othello. Othello still considers Iago to be one of his closest friend. Iago soon uses this trust that was gained to turn Othello into a man that is nothing better than himself. By the end of the play, all Characters have lost their loyalty to each other from what Iago has done to make them feel betrayed. Iago’s plan to ensure everyones downfall has taken a wrong turn as Desdemona is killed by Othello and Iago is left to kill his wife Emilia as she reveals to Othello that Desdemona has been falsely accused. Othello can hardly believe what he has done and kills himself rather than living with the guilt of killing his innocent wife Desdemona. Iago decides to escape but is soon caught and turned in for judgment. All in all, through his betrayal, Iago destroys the lives of innocent people in order to ruin Othellos reputation and better his own to be able to receive what he wants. Iago’s reign is short-lived as his selfishness causes his plan to take a toll on him causing Iago to captured. Betrayal should never be an option for revenge.
